South Africa could jump their way to the top of the Tri-Series table with a win against the West Indies, who will be keen to continue their strong form. Join The Roar for live scores from 3am (AEST).

South Africa have only won one of their first three matches of the tournament and need a reverse of results during their next three matches if they are to play in the final.

That turn around of form must start right here against the West Indies, who they were upset by in the first match of the tournament.

The Proteas failed to get a grasp of a pitch that was turning square and as a result, Sunil Narine picked up a massive six wickets – reducing the total to just 188.

In reply, South Africa’s lead spinner, Imran Tahir, struggled to limit the men from the Carribean going at over four runs per over, only taking two wickets as the low total was reached six wickets down with almost two overs to spare.

Kieron Pollard scored a run-a-ball 67 in that match, but what has been most impressive throughout the tournament is the Windies’ ability to share the run-scoring around. In their last match against Australia – which was also their second win, following a loss to the Aussies – Marlon Samuels scored 92, backed up by Johnson Charles’ 48.

Since the loss against the Windies in the first match, the Proteas have recorded one win and one loss, both against Australia, but have been inconsistent.

The harder pitch at Warner Park in St Kitts should allow their batsmen to find some touch, which Hashim Amla and Faf du Plesis did in the last match against Australia, both making half centuries.

Both the West Indies and Australia currently have two wins on the board, while South Africa only have one. A loss here would put a stack of pressure on them, but a bonus-point win would send them to the top.

Prediction
It’s difficult to see a side with the talent of South Africa holding a losing record for long. Despite playing the hosts, who have displayed strong form, the tourists will take the win here – but it’ll be close.
