Game 2 of the 2016 State of Origin series between the Queensland Maroons and the NSW Blues is scheduled for a kick-off time of 8pm AEST on Wednesday June 22, at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

However, it’s pretty normal for the kick-off time to be rescheduled for later in the night at Origin matches, due to the delays that come from pre-game entertainment and TV coverage.

An actual kick-off time of 8:20pm AEST is the usual result.

STATE OF ORIGIN LIVE SCORES: GAME 2

State of Origin Game 1 kicked off at 8:21pm, so expect something similar this time around after the pre-game specials and national anthem are complete.

The match will be broadcast live exclusively on the Nine Network through Channel 9 and 9HD. Their coverage of the match is slated to begin at 7:30pm AEST, and to conclude at 10:40pm AEST.

This is the second match in the series after the first was played three weeks ago at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

That match saw the Maroons take a win 6-4 in an affair that maybe wasn’t thrilling to watch, but was a vital victory all the same for the Queenslanders.

As Queensland’s Sam Thaiday famously put it: “Yeah, it was a bit like losing your virginity. It wasn’t very nice but we got the job done.”

That result puts the Maroons in a great position to clinch the series here in Game 2 given they’ll be playing on home soil.

A win in this match would mean their second consecutive Origin series won, and ten of the last eleven.

The Maroons’ task has been made easier too with a number of selection dramas hitting the Blues. Injuries to Boyd Cordner and Josh Morris have left them out of the team, and their preferred replacement for Cordner, Wade Graham, copped a ban for a high tackle made just moments before he was named in the team.

Queensland, on the other hand, have made only one change to their side with Jacob Lillyman coming into replace an injured Nate Myles.
