After Dane Gagai scored a try that was hard to believe, Johnathan Thurston made the kind of conversion it’s hard to believe anyone else could have.

Having seen Gagai scorch down the touchline and dive over to score with millimetres to spare, as he was collected by Tyson Frizell and Blake Ferguson, JT stepped up to add two more to Queensland’s four-point lead.

He was 21 metres out, standing on the sideline – just a crazy angle.

Thurston struck the ball, and it was never going over. How could it? The ball was closer to the corner post than the crossbar.

But then, somehow, some-crazy-how the ball started to bend. And bend. And bend.

By the time the ball reached the tryline, it wasn’t just between the sticks, it was over the black dot.

Thurston. Freak.
