The Canterbury forwards have outmuscled the Broncos and led the way in the Bulldogs’ 40-14 win tonight at ANZ stadium.

The Bulldogs scored seven tries to three in the match, and led 10-4 at half time. Brett Morris celebrated his return from a long term knee injury with 3 second half tries.

The first half was an entertaining arm wrestle. Both teams played largely error free football, completing the majority of their sets and their defence was solid.

The Broncos opened the scoring with a try by Corey Oates in the corner after a slick backline move involving Boyd and Milford. Oates showed his class to get the ball down with not much room to move.

The Bulldogs then hit back with two tries of their own through interchange players Tony Williams and Sam Kasiano. Both had an impact coming off the bench. Williams charged onto an inside ball from Moses Mbye to score the Bulldogs first four pointer.

Kasiano then scored an important try just before half-time from dummy half. He was forced back by the Broncos’ defence initially, but gathered himself to dive over the defence to score. It was a determined effort by the big man.

In the second half, the Bulldogs’ forwards really monstered the Broncos. Brett Morris scored his hat-trick on the back of that momentum. Sam Kasiano barged his way over for his second try, and David Klemmer crossed under the posts after a strong run of his own.

The Broncos two tries in the second half were scored late and largely against the run of play. James Roberts raced 90 metres after an intercept, and Anthony Milford scored after regathering a Ben Hunt chip kick.
