The West Indies will need a bonus point victory if they are to make the final of the ODI Tri-series when they take on South Africa in the final round robin match at Kensington Oval. Join The Roar for live scores from 3am (AEST).

Despite the fact both teams have won two of their five games played so far, South Africa sit four points ahead of the West Indies due to a washout against Australia, and both of their wins being with a bonus point.

Compare that to the West Indies who have won both of their games by quite small margins – certainly nowhere near even considering a bonus point and lost an extra game and it is easy for a gap like that to open up on the table.

That leaves them in a tricky predicament now, where they must get extremely aggressive from the outset and take the match with a bonus point. Simply winning this, due to their incredibly poor net run rate is not an option, because they will still end up missing the final.

The Proteas though, can actually go to the top of the table with a win here, not that it will make any difference unless the final is rained out.

The sides have already met twice during the tri-series, with the meetings being split one a piece. The West Indies cause a major upset in the opening game of the tournament, knocking South Africa over for 188 on a very spin friendly pitch before chasing it down with a few overs to spare.

When they met at Warner Park though it was comfortable the other way as South Africa took a crushing 139 run win. Hashim Amla led the way with a big century, before Imran Tahir made the West Indies batting line-up look clueless – taking seven wickets.

The West Indies, in their last match against Australia facing what was almost a must-win situation batted extremely well on their way to making 282 with Marlon Samuels scoring 125 and Dinesh Ramdin 91. Their bowling attack simply wasn’t good enough though.

For the West Indies to not only win this, but win well it is going to take a complete performance from their batting order, with everyone firing before spin bowler Sulieman Benn will need to take over in a big way.

Prediction
Despite some up and down form for both teams, the Proteas have been clinical when they win and the aggressive approach from the West Indies could explode.

South Africa to win and book their spot in the final alongside Australia.
