After piling on 46 points against the Russians last week, Canada possess the confidence required to perhaps secure a good win against the Italians today.
Indeed Italy were lucky to escape with victory against Canada at last year’s Rugby World Cup, with the Azurri securing a narrow 23-18 victory.
Canada though are now back at home and have impressed in recent performances against Russia and Japan. The emerging rugby nation continues to head in the right direction and will certainly ask questions of Italy today.
For all their experience playing in the Six Nations, Italy continues to lack a cutting edge to their play with the football. They are very one-dimensional and such a style of rugby will always provide nations such as Canada with a chance of securing the upset.
With this in mind, Canada need only play the percentages well today in a bid to cause the upset. Poor errors and ill-discipline will allow the Italians to post easy points via the boot of Carlo Canna.
If Canada can keep their ill-discipline to a minimum, a victory against a tier one rugby nation is a very real possibility.
