West Indies will hope to continue their giant-killing run against Australia when the two sides meet in the final of the tri-series. Join The Roar for the match from 3am (AEST).

After a month-long tour of the Caribbean, that has taken it to Guyana, St Kitts and finally Barbados, the tri-series finally reaches its climax at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

After years of acrimony between players, and players and administrators, leading to defeat and disappointment in abundance, the men from the Caribbean suddenly find themselves in a second final in a few months.

Having taken the World T20 title in India earlier this year, in their first international outing since the thrilling victory over England, the West Indies now face the world 50-over champions.

That the hosts are even in the final is a major shock, given the start that they had to their clash with South Africa on Friday, when only victory would do for both sides if they wished to progress to face the men in baggy green caps.

After being asked to bat, the hosts were reduced to 4-21 inside the first five overs, and looked down and out. However, Darren Bravo with 102 and Kieron Pollard turned the match on its head, and enabled their team to finish with 285 all out.

Despite their array of star batsmen, the Proteas lacked the will for the fight, and subsided to a meagre 185 all out.

The key to the outcome of the final may well be how the hosts cope with Australia’s Mitchell Starc, who has figures of 2-37 and 3-51 in the two tri-series games where Australia have beaten the West Indies. In the fixture where those results were reversed, Starc had been rested by the Australian selectors.

The hosts will have their own trump card in Sunil Narine – the mystery spinner has taken 11 wickets in six games and conceded under four runs per over since his international comeback with a remodelled bowling action.

There’s a catch though: Australia’s performance in their previous game was the closest to their best showing in recent times, finally shrugging off their rustiness from not having played ODI cricket in a while.

Can the West Indies surprise the Aussies here or will it be a cakewalk for the world No.1 side?
