The North Queensland Cowboys will be looking for an important win when they face the Manly Sea Eagles on Monday night at 1300SMILES Stadium. To follow all of the action from this game join us on The Roar from 7pm (AEST) Monday night to find out.

The defending premiers have done their chances of going back-to-back no harm so far this season by putting themselves in a strong position just past the midway point of the season.

As expected though, things have gotten much tougher for the Cowboys during the State of Origin period and this has shown in their results with two wins and two losses coming from their last four games.

Now sitting a couple of wins off the top of the table in third spot, results during the Origin period will be crucial come the end of the season so expect the Cowboys to be hungry for a win on Monday night football.

2016 has been one to forget for the Manly Sea Eagles with a sizeable injury list and poor football on the field seeing them slump to 14th spot on the ladder with just four wins.

Coming off a 20-point loss to the Titans which was their sixth loss in a row, the Sea Eagles will head into this big clash looking for their first win since Round 8 against the Newcastle Knights.

Being a side with plenty of talented players, Trent Barrett will be hoping his players can get their act together against the defending premiers.

In an interesting selection move the Cowboys have named all of their Origin players to back up for the game against the struggling Sea Eagles.

The revolving door at the selection table for Manly continues with Daly Cherry-Evans returning from injury meaning Apisai Koroisau will move to hooker with Matt Parcell out due to injury.

The Sea Eagles will also welcome back Dylan Walker who will back up from State of Origin Game 2, while Addin Fonua-Blake also comes into the side at the expense of Liam Knight and Pita Godinet.

While the Sea Eagles own a slight advantage in the overall head-to-head, they are still yet to win at 1300SMILES Stadium and with the current state their team is in they will be up against it for 80 minutes against a dangerous Cowboys side at home.

If North Queensland’s star halves and outside backs do back up from Origin, expect Paul Green to have them attacking Manly’s brittle defence on both edges.

While the Sea Eagles will need Martin Tapau and Jake Trbojevic to dominate the battle of the forwards if they are to have any hope in this contest.

Prediction
It’s hard to go past the Cowboys in this one, even if some of their Origin players are withdrawn from the side they will still be too classy for the Sea Eagles to handle.

Cowboys by 14 points.
