Samantha Stosur faces Sabine Lisicki in the second round of Wimbledon. Join The Roar for live scores from around 12:30am (AEST).

Stosur came away with a comfortable win over Magda Linette in the first round 7-5, 6-3.

The Aussie played just one match in the lead-up to Wimbledon, a loss to Caroline Wozniacki at Eastbourne.

It came after a strong run at the French Open, where she made it to the semi-finals before losing to eventual champion Garbine Muguruza.

The 14th tournament seed, Stosur needs to make sure that she holds serve – if Lisicki breaks, her nerves will prevail.

If the Australian plays calmly and is able to limit her running, she should power through to the third round.

Lisicki had fallen out of form in recent weeks, however she has returned to her best at just the right time, pulling off an emphatic, straight-sets win over Shelby Rogers to prove she is a dark horse for the Wimbledon crown in 2016.

Lisicki played just one tournament in the lead-up, making a second round exit at Mallorca to Mariana Duque-Marino following a first round win over Kristina Mladenovic.

It followed a poor clay season, where she made a first round exit at the French Open and failed to make it past the second round at any lead-up tournament.

The German surprisingly goes into the match as the favourite, despite some disappointing results.

The surface will prove to be a major advantage for Lisicki, with grass her preferred surface despite being allergic to it, while Wimbledon is Stosur’s worst grand slam in terms of performance.

The pair have met seven times, with Stosur dominating the encounters, having five wins to her name.

Their most recent meeting came in 2014, when Stosur dismantled Lisicki 6-3, 6-3 at Rome.

They have had three clashes on grass, with Stosur taking two, although Lisicki won the only time they have played each other at Wimbledon, in the third round during the 2013 tournament.

The winner will meet either Yaroslava Shvedova or seventeenth seed Elina Svitolina.
