Australia’s Nick Kyrgios is looking to get a win over Dustin Brown and move into the third round of Wimbledon 2016 on Friday night. Join The Roar for live scores from the match, starting from 8pm AEST.

The world No.18 Kyrgios had a trying first match earlier in the week when he came up against Radek Stepanek, winning the first two sets in relative comfort before being pushed into a tense tiebreaker in the third.

Stepanek ultimately won a thrilling tiebreaker 11-9, but couldn’t maintain his competitiveness when the fourth set came around, bombing out 1-6 and allowing Kyrgios to quickly procede into the second round.

It’s there that he will player Germany’s Dustin Brown, ten year his senior and with five previous Wimbledon appearances under his belt, though Brown has never gone beyond the third round in any of them.

Brown is ranked No.85 in the world. He came up against Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic in the first round and fought a close battle against him, eventually claiming the win, though it took him five sets to do so (4-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4).

Although he’s the younger and less experienced of the two here, there’s no doubting Kyrgios boasts more talent and if the match were to be decided on that alone he’d be comfortably ahead.

However Kyrgios does have a habit of letting the mental side of the game get a bit out of his control and that is more often than not where he comes undone.

He had a few unpleasant moments in his match against Stepanek where he looked to be losing his cool and in the end it cost him that chance to win the third set tiebreaker and avoid playing a fourth set.

Prediction

So long as Kyrgios keeps his head in the game, he’ll win here.

Kyrgios in straight sets.
