The list of Jarryd Hayne’s next potential destination now also includes the Waratahs, with coach Darryl Gibson saying the Super Rugby franchise are “definitely interested” in the code-hopping star.

“He is one hell of a player and I think we’d be definitely interested,” Gibson said of Hayne.

While Hayne is in Sydney at the moment – touching down last night on the same plane as Semi Radradra – the Tahs are currently in Tokyo, ahead of their historic first-ever match against the Sunwolves.

So Gibson is in no position at present to meet with the former Parramatta Eel, but one would presume a coffee will be on the cards when the team return to the Harbour City.

Hayne has kept any talk of his future to a minimum.

There is mounting evidence that a switch to the 15-man game could be on the cards, with Danny Weidler reporting on the news last night that Hayne’s manager has met with the ARU. So the interest is there from rugby, it’s about whether Hayne is keen to get on board.

After a year in the NFL, playing eight games for the San Fransisco 49ers, Hayne quit the American game to link up with the Fijian sevens side, to chase his “dream” of playing in the Olympics.

(He copped heaps for previously saying that playing in the NFL was his dream, but considering the average person dreams between four and six times per night, maybe we should let Hayne have two.)

As far as what happens after the Olympics – if he makes it, that is, his London debut was fairly underwhelming – that’s anyone’s guess.

In the NRL, plenty of clubs have expressed their interest in the State of Origin gun, although the frontrunners are considered to be the Roosters and his former club, Parramatta.

There is also talk of interest from rugby clubs in France and Japan.

Now, too, the Tahs, where Hayne would be teammates with another triple-code-hopping star in Israel Folau.

The big spanner in the works is that Hayne would be ineligible to play for the Wallabies, having already played for Fiji in the sevens game.

Where will the Hayne Plane land? It’s anyone’s guess, but the man’s not short on offers.
