The Rabbitohs came close to knocking over the Panthers last week however, they just couldn’t get there in the end as Penrith clawed home to hold onto a 28-26 win.

Sam Burgess and Cody Walker inspired a late Bunnies revival and will need to lift against the high-flying Cowboys.

Adam Reynolds will return in what will be a huge boost for the cardinal and myrtle with the New South Wales representative to play a pivotal role as he attempts to retain his role ahead of State of Origin 3.

Reynolds must step up and inspire his team including Greg Inglis and Burgess with Michael Maguire’s men needing to lift against one of the NRL’s top teams as they clamour to make their way up the ladder and keep their season alive.

The Cowboys will be without Michael Morgan once again with Ray Thompson partnering Johnathan Thurston in the halves.

The pair only just managed to help the Cowboys home last week against the Sea Eagles, holding on for a 30-26 victory.

The key to the match will be their forward pack with Matt Scott and James Tamou needing to lead the way once again after they were dominant last week against the much smaller Sea Eagles.

Jason Taumalolo was sensational and will need to put in a similar effort as he prepares to lock horns with one of the best forwards in the game, with Sam Burgess his opposite number.

There is likely to be more fans in support of the Cowboys despite it being a Souths home game which could serve as an extra advantage for North Queensland.

27 meetings have come between the two clubs since 1998 with 14 of those won by the Cowboys while Souths have won 12. One match between the two has been drawn.

They played earlier this year in Round 7 with North Queensland winning 44-18 in Townsville.

They have taken three matches to Barlow Park winning on two occasions.

Prediction

They may not have Michael Morgan but the Cowboys will have the crowd on their side and give the Cairns locals a win.

Cowboys by 18.
