It’s a battle of two of the biggest servers in Tennis when giant killer Sam Querrey and sixth seed Milos Raonic face off in the Wimbledon quarter-finals. Join The Roar for live scores from 10pm (AEST).

The points will be short as these two square off, with a high volume of aces or simply unreturnable serves, and whoever handles that facet of the game better should go along way to getting the job done.

The American, Querrey is going around Wimbledon as the giant killer right at the moment, having knocked off the world’s best player and winner of the last four grand slams Novak Djokovic in the third round.

It might have taken him four sets, but he can say something that not many other players can. A five set battle with Lukas Rosol in the first round, plus a pair of straight wins over strong players Thomaz Bellucci and Nicolas Mahut see him in good touch for this match.

He will need to absolutely nail his serve every time, though, because Raonic arguably has the better all round game – then again, you would have said the same thing about the world no. 1.

Despite Raonic being a grass court player, he has traditionally struggled at Wimbledon only getting out of the fourth round once in five attempts.

This has a different feel about it though for the Canadian, with a less than easy run through the tournament but yet only dropping a single set so far, and that came against David Goffin in the fourth round.

With wins over Goffin, Jack Sock, Andreas Seppi and Pablo Carreno-Busta, there is no question he is in some very strong form and is in with his best chance of advancing through a grand slam ever.

The pair have faced off on four previous occasions, with the last of those being a walkover as Raonic was unable to take to the court in Miami during 2013. Raonic won the meeting previous in San Jose.

Their first ever meeting came in the second round of Wimbledon during 2012 as Querrey won an exhilarating four set game, full of massive serving and a few tie-breakers.

While Querrey does hold the ledger between the pair Raonic was just 22 years old last time they met and certainly not the player he is today, so it is questionable exactly how much the previous record comes into play here.

The winner of this quarter-final will take on the winner of Roger Federer and Marin Cilic in the semi-finals.

Prediction
Querrey will challenge Raonic with the serve, but the Canadian’s all round game should see him advance to the semi-finals.

Raonic in four sets.
