Fight preview:

Rafael dos Anjos will be looking to defend his lightweight championship for the second time when he takes on Eddie Alvarez. Join The Roar from 12pm (AEST) for live scores and round-by-round coverage.

Currently riding a five-fight win streak, UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos has an aura of invincibility around him that doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon.

Coming off a first-round knockout over Donald Cerrone in his last bout, dos Anjos holds dominant victories over Benson Henderson, Anthony Pettis and Nate Diaz.

However, dos Anjos’ title defence against Eddie Alvarez will be his first bout in over six months, after breaking his foot in the lead up to the then-scheduled bout against featherweight champion Conor McGregor.

After a disappointing start to his UFC career, Eddie Alvarez has been on a roll of his own, grinding his way towards a title shot.

Alvarez first defeated Gilbert Melendez via split decision, however Melendez tested positive for performance enhancing drugs prior to the bout.

He then went on to out-grapple former champion Anthony Pettis in a hard-fought decision win to earn the title shot against dos Anjos.

Dos Anjos looks like the most dangerous fighter on the entire roster, and his explosive style and heavy grappling should prove too much for Alvarez to handle. Expect dos Anjos to retain his title in typical dos Anjos fashion.

Prediction
Rafael dos Anjos to defeat Eddie Alvarez via unanimous decision.
