The NRL stat that isn't one, but should be: Working out which forwards really pull their weight

A late-career spike in form has prompted Parramatta veteran Jeff Robson to re-consider retiring at the end of the NRL season.
Robson has been one of the Eels’ best since answering a SOS from coach Brad Arthur following star Kieran Foran’s decision to walk away from the game to address personal issues.
And while the 34-year-old had planned to hang up the boots at the end of the year, the club’s 2009 grand final halfback is mulling over playing into a 14th season.
“I always had the intention this was going to be my last season (but) since I’ve come back to Parra, I’ve really enjoyed playing alongside this playing group and started to enjoy my footy again,” he said.
“I’m just going to have to weigh up over the next couple of weeks whether it’s worth going on again and sit down with (coach) Brad (Arthur) and see what his plans are and we’ll go from there.”
Off-contract five-eighth Corey Norman is understood to be close to re-signing with the club, however the Eels are without an experienced No.7 on their books for next season.
Back-up playmakers Luke Kelly and Mitch Cornish are without deals beyond this summer, providing an opportunity for Robson to be a part of the 25-man squad.
The former Warriors, Cronulla and Manly halfback said he would only consider playing on with the Eels.
“Most probably I would only play here. If not, I’d probably hang up the boots and look at moving onto the next chapter of my life,” he said.
Teammate Michael Gordon said Robson had done a strong job in his five games in Eels’ colours.
“He came at a crucial time when we needed some halves – all our back-up halves were injured. He’s always been a real solid player and he’s done exactly the same since he come here,” Gordon said.
