TWO GOOD! Zahra wins back-to-back Melbourne Cups on Without a Fight as three horses pull up lame
Without a Fight completed the rare Caulfield Cup-Melbourne Cup double on Tuesday as star jockey Mark Zahra went back-to-back in the big one after…
G’day Roarers! As always, three out of four… sigh, but hopefully we can bounce back this Saturday. I’ll be previewing the quaddies at Moonee Valley this Saturday, starting off with the early quaddie, with the legs being races two through to five:
Leg One – SKM Recycling Handicap (78) 1600m:
Lahqa can take care of the wide gate and lead these, while Distant Rock shouldn’t be too far away. It’s a race I want to steer clear from. I have Miss Denni on top but with not much confidence. The watch horse is Steggler, making his debut down under for Darren Weir.
Suggestion: 2-3-4-5-6-7
Leg Two – Dr Sheahan Plate (90) 1200m:
Refuse To Lose and Prussian Vixen look the go forward horses here. I can’t believe $8.50 is on offer for Vibrant Rouge. She should get a dream run just off the speed, she likes the Valley and is so well suited at the weights.
Suggestion: 1-2-3-5
Leg Three – Cleanaway Plate 1200m:
Tan Tat Beauty showed good speed on debut when winning on the Pakenham Synthetic but there is good speed drawn inside her. I was really impressed with Monkey Magic on debut and the $12 is crazy overs. Sweet Sherry, now with Team Corstens, looked very sharp in a jump out at Flemington last Friday.
Suggestion: 1-2-9-12
Leg Four – Essendon Nissan McKenzie Stakes 1200m:
Deal Master showed really good early toe to win on debut on the Pakenham Synthetic in a maiden which had good depth, but really all eyes are on Ken’s Dream and whether or not he can replicate his debut romp at Echuca. If he does, he just about wins.
Suggestion: 8
$50 investment = 52.08% of the dividend if successful
Leg One – Mayoral Charity Community Handicap 2040m:
Pin Your Hopes has drawn well and I doubt the lead will be up for grabs despite Rhythm To Spare drawing wide and likely pressing. Killarney Kid and Yulong Baby look the threats to Pin Your Hopes while Lucques could be an improver.
Suggestion: 1-3-4-6-8
Leg Two – Westar Trucks Isuzu Handicap 1500m:
Majestic Duke and Onpicalo have the potential to go hard in front here, and the speed map does suggest that Nevis will get the lovely sit off that likely genuine tempo. Pilote D’Essai looks the obvious but $1.90 is poison odds IMO. Each way Nevis for me.
Suggestion: 2-3-5-9
Leg Three – 1Print Carlyon Stakes 1000m:
Heatherly looks the clear leader, and for mine she is the winner given I think she will just be too nippy for her rivals. Jump out was very good on Friday and was nearly a quicker than any other heat. From all reports she worked well on Tuesday and provided she doesn’t cop too much pressure, she’ll be winning.
Suggestion: 5
Leg Four – William Hill Handicap (90) 1200m:
Rich Jack can show speed and with Gauci back aboard, I think that will be the plan. I have Magicus on top, but given he is fourth emergency he may not get a start. Each way plays for me are Magnus Reign back on his favourite track and Fast Cash after an eye catching fresh run.
Suggestion: 2-6-8-10-13-18
$50 investment= 40% of the dividend if successful
