Match preview:

The Showdown is always a game to mark on the calendar, the form guide is thrown out the door, so don’t discount Port Adelaide Power even if the Adelaide Crows dominated them last time out. Join The Roar for all the action 7:40pm (AEST).

The Crows are one of the form sides in the competition and will look to boost their top-four chances with another win over their crosstown rivals.

The Power though will want to finish what has been a turbulent season on a high and there is no better way than beating the Crows.

Port are out of the race for the finals, after last week’s loss to the Demons closed the small window of opportunity they had, while Adelaide got a big break, with the Giants losing to the Eagles, moving them one clear of the logjam in the middle of the eight.

A win today will seal Adelaide’s top-four chances thanks to a huge percentage advantage over the Cats. Depending on the result of the Hawthorn Hawks and West Coast Eagles game, they even have a possible chance at getting the number one spot on the ladder.

In their previous match-up, in Round 2, Tom Lynch was unstoppable for the Crows, kicking six goals on his way to winning the Showdown Medal. Adelaide came storming out of the blocks, kicking 13 goals to four in the first half, going on to win by 58 points.

Watch out for Eddie Betts, who will be playing in his 250th game this weekend. The goal sneak has had a career resurgence at Adelaide and will look to add to his current tally of 60 goals for the season. Jarman Impey is the man most likely taking on Betts, and he will want to bring his best to keep him down.

Prediction
Adelaide by 54.

Can the Power take Showdown XLI, or will the Crows continue their stellar season with another win?
