The Marathon is one of the defining events of any Olympics, and it is scheduled to get underway at the Rio Games on Sunday, August 21 at 10:30pm (AEST).

Always one of the final events on the Olympic calendar, the Marathon is seen as a must-watch for purist fans on the Olympic Games. It’s at a very good time for Australian viewers too, and should be over before you lose too much sleep on the night before, with the best marathon runners finishing the race in just over two hours.

This is The Roar‘s complete guide to streaming the event and watching it on TV.

How to live stream online

Channel 7 have the exclusive rights to the Olympic Games in Australia across both TV and any digital or pay networks.

To stream the Olympic marathon online in its entirety, you will need to have access to the Olympics on 7 app which allows you to stream every single event of the Olympic Games.

This comes with a free option, allowing you to stream Channel 7, 7TWO and 7mate or the premium option which costs $19.95, allowing every event to be unlocked for your viewing.

This app is available on PC or any other mobile or tablet device you may own.

Furthermore, if you wish to stream one of the main channels of the Seven Network you can use the plus7 app which runs 24/7 streams of all seven network stations and programs.

The Roar will also carry a live blog of the match where you can follow all the latest updates and get involved in the banter and discussion.

How to watch on TV

As mentioned, Channel 7 have exclusive access to the Olympic Games. Because this is a rather long race it’s likely that you will need the app at some point as the Seven Network tries to mix up their programming.

To find out which station this will be on, or if you will need the app you will need to check your local guides closer to event start time, or more likely keep the remote control handy! They’ll let you know when the channel’s about to change.
