The penultimate day of competition at Rio promises to be another medal-filled one with women’s gold medal match in the basketball.

Going into the Games, the Opals were always the team most likely to provide stern competition for the USA. They won’t get the chance to do that in today’s gold medal match, though, which tips off at 4:30am with the United States taking on Spain.

The women’s triathlon will be another one of the headline acts, and Erin Densham, Ashleigh Gentle and Emma Moffatt will all be in the running to snare gold for Australia. The race gets underway at around midnight (AEST).

After yesterday’s women’s medal matches, the men’s football competition will reach its conclusion today when Neymar’s Brazil take on Germany at 6:30am AEST.

Water polo will provide another gold medal match, starting at 6:50am, when Croatia take on Serbia.

As for athletics, we’ve got finals in the women’s high jump, men’s 5000 metres and both 4x400m relay.
