The 2016 Rio Olympics comes to a close with the party that is the closing ceremony kicking off on Monday, August 22 at 9am (AEST).
While the Ceremony actually takes place the night before in Rio, time differences mean it is at a reasonable time of the morning here in Australia.
If the opening ceremony was a party, then we should expect the closing ceremony to be exactly the same – celebrating everything that is good about Brazil and the Olympic Games.
And don’t they know how to throw a party?
Early reports though are suggesting many athletes won’t stay around for the closing ceremony, especially those that have already had their events finished for the second week.
For Australia, it is likely that Rower and gold medalist Kim Brennan will be selected to carry the flag, an honour which track cyclist Anna Meares had at the opening ceremony.
The Seven Network hold the exclusive rights for both TV and Digital to the Olympic Games, and ones that will come after it through to 2024.
There broadcast of the closing ceremony will begin at 9am following the completion of all events, and go through until 12pm – midday which will apply to all platforms.
To stream the Olympic Closing Ceremony online in its entirety, you will need to have access to the Olympics on 7 app which allows you to stream every single event of the Olympic Games.
This comes with a free option, allowing you to stream Channel 7, 7TWO and 7mate or the premium option which costs $19.95, allowing every event to be unlocked for your viewing.
This app is available on PC or any other mobile or tablet device you may own.
However, the premium option will not be needed at this point, with the ceremony to be broadcast across the main networks of 7.
The Roar will also carry a live blog of the match where you can follow all the latest updates and get involved in the banter and discussion.
As mentioned above, the Seven Network will broadcast the Closing Ceremony on their main channel, directly following the completion of competition and their morning show, Sunrise.
Their broadcast will run for three hours, and the main channel can be found on Channel 70 for high definition or 71 for standard definition. The Foxtel number will be 107.
Following the completion of the Ceremony, the Seven Network will be running a post Olympic Games show, likely to recap all of the best bits with a particular focus on Australians.
