Match preview:

Their finals hopes are well and truly over but both the Sydney Roosters and St George Illawarra Dragons want to make a splash when the two rivals go head-to-head. Join The Roar from 4pm (AEST) for live coverage.

The Roosters are coming off an impressive 22-10 victory over the Cowboys, with Mitchell Pearce silencing Johnathan Thurston, following a heavy loss at the hands of the Panthers a week earlier.

Trent Robinson will be hoping that Pearce can continue in this vein of form and scrape his side up into 13th position, pending other results.

The Red V remain a mathematical possibility of making the top eight, however if they are to keep that slim chance alive, a win today is paramount.

Their 32-18 victory over the Sharks last week saw their attack finally find their feet.

Paul McGregor’s halves pairing of Benji Marshall and Gareth Widdop hold the key if the boys from Wollongong are to come up with the goods.

In 35 meetings between the two clubs, the Roosters have won 15 to the Dragons’ 19, while one match has been drawn.

Many historic encounters have come between the two sides, including the 2010 grand final and the annual Anzac Day game, which the Dragons won 20-18 this year, following some brilliance from Gareth Widdop.

Prediction
Easts will continue their impressive end-of-season form.

Roosters by 12.
