Fight preview

UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will be looking to defend his title for the first time when he takes on Alistair Overeem, Fabricio Werdum and Travis Browne clash for the chance to fight for UFC gold, and CM Punk makes his highly anticipated UFC debut against Mickey Gall. Join The Roar from 12pm AEST for live coverage and round-by-round action.

After knocking out former-champion Fabricio Werdum in the first round to win the heavyweight title at UFC 198, Stipe Miocic will be looking to keep the belt in his home town of Cleveland.

Coming off a three-fight win streak, where he knocked out Mark Hunt, Andrei Arlovski and most recently Werdum, Miocic has solidified himself as the most dangerous striker in the division.

However, his opponent for UFC 203, will be the most experienced striker in the organisation.

Alistair Overeem is widely regarded as one of the world’s best ever kickboxers, however his UFC stint was never as successful as he wanted it to be, until now.

Overeem is riding a four-fight win streak, where he proved to be dominant over the likes of Stefan Struve and Roy Nelson, and most recently, former UFC heavyweight champions Junior Dos Santos and Andrei Arlovski, both of whom he knocked out in spectacular fashion.

Winning UFC gold would make Alistair Overeem one of the most successful fighters in the history of combat sports.

Phil Brooks, better known as ‘CM Punk’, made his name in the WWE, where he shot to superstardom by once again putting professional wrestling on the mainstream map.

After parting ways with Vince McMahon and the WWE, CM Punk has the chance to follow in the footsteps of fellow pro-wrestling giant Brock Lesnar in the search for octagon success.

In his first professional bout he faces Mickey Gall, who called out Brooks fighting for another organisation, and was subsequently given the chance to make a name for himself by UFC president Dana White.
