The on-fire Cronulla Sharks have set up a blockbuster home final against the North Queensland Cowboys for a spot in the grand final, after the latter snuck past the Broncos last week.

The defending premiers put on yet another instant classic with their Queensland rivals, taking the win with a piece of extra-time genius from Johnathan Thurston.

The Sharks are fresh, coming off a one-week break thanks to a tight win in the opening round of the finals.

With the finale edging closer and closer, every footy fan wants to catch every minute of the action. Here’s how you can do it.

Date: Friday, September 23
Venue: 7:55pm (AEST)

How to watch on TV

Finals coverage of the NRL has been synonymous with Channel Nine for decades, but Fox Sports has joined the party this year, gaining joint rights for every match.

The Nine Network will have live coverage of the game on Nine and Nine HD from 7:30pm, with just under half an hour of pre-match coverage before kickoff.

Fox Sports will begin their pre-game rundown at 7pm on Fox Sports 1, taking you all the way up to kickoff at 7:55pm. They will also have a post-game wrap-up on Fox Sports 1, with a 30-minute round-up straight after the game.

As always, check your local guides to confirm the coverage in your region.

How to stream online

For those who can’t get to a TV but still want to watch the game, there are a couple of options available.

Foxtel and Fox Sports are again a major player, providing the option of streaming across most major devices through their Foxtel Play and Foxtel Go apps.

You will need a Foxtel account to access the Fox Sports coverage online, and that will set you back $50 a month once you’ve added on the necessary sports package to your subscription.

You can, however, get access to Foxtel Play with a free two-week trial just in time for the NRL’s biggest fortnight.

The other option is the NRL’s Digital Pass, which shows each and every game of the season. The Digital Media Pass also covers a lot of original content on the app that isn’t available on TV, which is worth checking out for the particularly avid NRL fans out there.

NRL Digital Pass does have a one-week free trial option, but besides that, it will cost $2.99 a week, or $89.99 for the annual pass.

Of course, all the NRL finals live scores and action will be covered by The Roar, and you can access more NRL broadcast information for the entire season at our NRL TV guide.
