After the first match ended in an upset, with Pakistan beating world champions the West Indies in dominant style in Dubai, the players return just 24 hours later with the series victory on the line. Join The Roar for live scores of the second T20 from 2am (AEST).

Pakistan couldn’t have played any better in the first match, taking a commanding nine-wicket victory to get their homestand off to a fantastic start.

Despite being at home, they came into the T20 series at least as outsiders, but quickly put that notion to bed after winning the toss and electing to bowl first on a pitch that had plenty of assistance.

They had the West Indies powerful top order in all sorts of trouble at 4 for 17 from 3.4 overs, and continued to march their way towards and easy victory, knocking them over for 115.

The only reason the Windies got anywhere near a reasonable score was a run-a-ball 55 from Dwayne Bravo. For Pakistan, Imad Wasim was the pick of the bowlers picking up 5 for 14, however everyone contributed well.

Pakistan then made the pitch look like a different one when batting, passing the Windies just one wicket down and with a massive 5.4 overs, or a quarter of the innings to spare.

Sharjeel Khan, who is widely regarded the key man for Pakistan, set the ball rolling with 22 before opening partner Khalid Latif and no. 3 Babar Azam did the rest.

If the West Indies are to improve this time around, it all comes down to their top order. They have proven on multiple times before that they can do a good job, but didn’t show that in the first match. If they build a platform, then they certainly have the firepower down the order to build a competitive total.

The first match in this series pushed the overall record between the sides in the shortest form of the game to a Pakistan 3-2 lead.

Neither team are expected to make any team changes for this match, with such a short turnaround. The West Indies could swing a surprise though given the final score of the first match.

Prediction
Pakistan were dominant in the first match, but even away from home it’s hard to see the Windies being beaten badly twice in their favourite format. They have a long tour ahead and need to pick up some momentum here.

West Indies in a close one.
