When is 2016 Dally M medal: Start time, venue, event and TV guide

The 2016 Dally M Medal ceremon, to crown the best player in the NRL this season will be hosted at The Star Casino in Sydney, with the event scheduled to start 8:30pm (AEST) on Wednesday, September 28.

The medal, named after former legend Dally Messenger is voted on all season long by a panel of experts, with the count being in public until Round 16, and behind closed doors after that.

The event will see a team, coach and rookie of the year, as well as the prestigious Dally M count along with other awards like try and headline of the year.

Before the main ceremony, the players and their partners will get a chance to hit the red carpet from about 7:30pm (AEST) with both that and the ceremony being broadcast live on Fox Sports channel 501.

The 2015 Dally M Medal was taken out by Johnathan Thurston of the North Queensland Cowboys, and he is among the contenders to go back-to-back.

Among the other contenders this year will be teammate Jason Taumalolo, Melbourne Storm duo Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk, as well as the likes of Ben Barba, Michael Ennis and Josh Hodgson.
