Sydney Swans speedster Gary Rohan has claimed a goal in comical circumstances in the second quarter of the AFL grand final.

Rohan appeared to have claimed a mark from a kick out of a stoppage from outside the Swans’ forward fifty.

Unbeknownst to seemingly every player on the ground, the umpires had actually called the kick touched off the boot, rendering the mark anything but.

That didn’t stop Rohan from leisurely walking back for a set shot while Lance Franklin jogged over to congratulate his younger teammate and ready him for the shot on goal.

The Swans weren’t the only ones to stop after the phantom mark – it took the Bulldogs’ defence plenty of time to clue on to what was happening. By then, Rohan had time to wheel onto his right foot and snap home a crucial goal for the Swans.

Rohan’s effort – and everyone else’s inability to hear the umpires over the horde of MCG fans – helped the Swans to a 45-43 halftime lead after trailing early in the second quarter.
