Bangladesh got themselves on the scoreboard in Dhaka, and now come to Chittagong hoping to cause a boilover and win their one day international series against England. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:30pm (AEDT).

England would have come into this series expecting to win every match, such has been the standard of cricket from Bangladesh over the years.

The fact Bangladesh haven’t faced a Test-playing nation this year outside of the World T20 would have backed those claims up even further, but the Tigers have played out of their skin so far and will be hoping to do so once again.

With a two-match Test series to come, a loss here could be demoralising for England.

After England claimed the first match in Dhaka by just 21 runs, Bangladesh bounced back strongly in the second to win by 34 and send the series to a decider.

On a pitch that once again had plenty of life in it, Bangladesh reached a score that was marginally above what could have been considered par, hitting 238 from their 50 overs.

Mamadullah was the best of the batsmen, playing a controlled knock of 75 from 88 balls, while others chipped in around him to keep the scoreboard ticking along and innings alive.

Captain Mashrafae Mortaza, whose batting has been on the slide in recent times, stood up from number ten and smashed 44 of just 29 balls to ensure Bangladesh reached a competitive total.

In reply, the tourists got off to a horrendous start, at one point sitting on 4 for 26 with Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan running rampant. Mortaza finished up with four wickets in what was a man-of-the-match performance.

The innings was held together by Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler, but even their partnership was relatively short-lived and England crumbled to be all out for 204.

Mortaza is really the key for both this match and the upcoming test series for Bangladesh. He must bat at no lower than number eight, but also take wickets regularly.

Prediction
Bangladesh have been extremely competitive in this series, but England should get back to somewhere near their best and round out the series. The Tigers will fight hard, but it’s difficult to see them getting the job done.

England in a close one.
