“At 23-years of age, Bradley is an experienced premiership player with elite running and skill level,” said Fremantle’s list manager Brad Lloyd.

“We believe he will be a valuable acquisition to our playing list and be a long-term player for Fremantle.

“Bradley is really excited about returning home to WA and will relish the opportunity to play with Stephen.”

Hawks list manager Graham Wright explained the deal from a Hawthorn perspective:

“Bradley informed the club he had a strong desire to return to Western Australia and play with his brother at Fremantle.

“We have worked closely with his management and Fremantle to facilitate a deal that we feel benefits everyone involved.

“He has been a great servant to this club and leaves a triple premiership player.

“We would like to thank Bradley for his contribution to the Hawthorn Football Club and wish him all the best in the future.”

On the surface it looks like a pretty reasonable trade – while Hill might not be regarded as a genuine A-grader by many, he has plenty of speed and reasonable skills, two commodities the Dockers are in need of.

Pick 23 is a more than reasonable price to pay when you consider that Hill still has the best years of his career ahead of him, and can bring a wealth of premiership experience to the club.

Hawthorn also now have another valuable asset they can use in their quest to land Jaeger O’Meara – either offering the draft pick to the Suns, or trading it on to a third party in a larger deal.
