Underdogs Canberra Olympic are out to continue their fairytale run through the FFA Cup as they host the first semi-final against A-League leaders Sydney FC. Catch all the live scores and action on The Roar from 7:30pm (AEDT).

Olympic are coming off one of the best performances in the FFA Cup’s history, sensationally beating Green Gully with a penalty goal in injury time despite being a man down.

They haven’t conceded a single goal in their last three games on the path to the semi-finals, all being home games in front of the Olympic faithful.

Some tough competition lies in their way if they want to continue the story though.

Sydney FC have launched into the new A-League season out of a cannon, taking top spot after the first two weeks with a pair of dominant four-goal routs of the Wanderers and Mariners respectively.

Their Cup form this season has been equally as impressive.

Much like Olympic, the sky blues are yet to concede a goal in their FFA Cup campaign, waltzing through to the semifinals in convincing fashion.

The two-time A-League champions had a scare against Perth Glory in the Round of 16 though, sneaking home a pair of goals in extra time after a shaky goalless 90 minutes.

Bernie Ibini has been named to make his long-awaited return from a devastating leg injury that has seen him miss nearly 18 months of football.

His last professional game came in the 2014-15 A-League grand final and is currently on loan to Sydney FC from his Belgian club Brugge.

Alex Brosque has scored off the bench in both of Sydney’s first two games and is now expected to get a run on start for the sky blues, his first of the Cup.

Canberra have been gritty, they’ve been tough and it’s been far from pretty, but they’re a team that continues to find ways to win, and the fans love it.

They will have easily their biggest test campaign against Sydney, but they have the guts and determination to cause the upset.

Prediction
Sydney are in brutal form at the moment, running riot early in the league season off the back of a goal-scoring spree in the Cup during the offseason.

Olympic will no doubt give everything they have and throw the kitchen sink at the sky blues, but their dream run will come to an end.
