Qewy has been crowned victorious at the Geelong Cup, defeating Grey Lion by the smallest of margins after leading the race from start to finish.

Despite a smaller field than was originally anticipated after the scratchings of international competitors Who shot Thebarman and Arab Dawn, and then a late scratching for local favourite Black Tomahawk it didn’t stop Qewy pushing to the front early.
One of the early favourites Oceanographer looked sluggish for much of the race, and struggled to keep up with the leaders eventually finishing almost a full length behind Qewy despite a strong finish.
Jockey of Qewy, Kerrin McEvoy barely put a foot wrong, and even though it looked like Qewy could have lost because of the early lead, the pace was manageable to run the whole race out.
