United had a strong Round 2 winning both of their games against the Adelaide 36ers and Illawarra Hawks and are currently sitting with a 2-2 record.

The Wildcats meanwhile, are sitting just ahead of United with two wins and one loss from their three games giving them a higher winning percentage at this early point of the season.

Perth made a shock move midweek by releasing import guard Jaron Johnson and in what has been announced as a strategic move, signed Andre Ingram as his replacement.

Ingram is more of a three-point specialist than Johnson, so his role will be that of a spot-up shooter that Perth have lacked in the early games.

Melbourne looked strong in Round 2 and the pre-season hype around them was more than justified, winning by double digits in both games.

Despite a few bad runs in those games they were comprehensively dominating their opposition.

Perth only played the one game and that was a Finals series rematch against New Zealand where they scraped home with a two point win at home.

The Wildcats will have their hands full in containing not only Chris Goulding but big man David Andersen. Perth will be trying to ease new import Andre Ingram in what should be his second game.

Expect to see Damien Martin spend some time on Goulding to minimize his impact on the game at times.

This game will be a good test for both teams and this could be an early season look at one of the finals matchups, the home crowd probably plays into Melbourne’s hands but that has never been a concern for the Wildcats.

Prediction
