Adelaide United have been dealt a blow with boom A-League recruit Henrique sidelined for at least six weeks with a grade two medial ligament injury.

The 31-year-old former Brisbane forward was hurt when brought down by Melbourne Victory midfielder Oliver Bozanic during the Reds’ 2-1 loss on Saturday night.

Henrique has started all three games this season since signing in August on a one-year deal.

His absence leaves Guillermo Amor’s reigning champions without vital experience in the front third as they seek to defend their title with a more youthful line-up.

Henrique left the Roar at the end of last season after 136 appearances over eight seasons, during which he famously scored the winning penalty in the 2011 grand final against Central Coast.

He joined Malaysian Premier League side Negeri Sembilan for a spell during the A-League off-season before heading to Adelaide.
