Pakistan are in a commanding position in the second Test against the West Indies in Abu Dhabi, and could look to have it wrapped up with a day to spare. Join The Roar for live scores of Day 4 from 5pm (AEDT).

Pakistan have dominated this match from the outset after looking a fraction shaky in their first Test victory under lights, using all but 12 overs to get the job done.

After winning the toss on a typical Abu Dhabi pitch, they made the most of it and piled up 452 runs on the back of Younis Khan, who scored 127 on his return from injury, and captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who fell agonisingly short of a century on 96.

The West Indies struggled with the ball and first Test hero, leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo, could only muster a single wicket from his 26 overs.

In reply, many of the West Indies batsmen got starts but failed to carry it on as they were knocked over for 224 with opener Darren Bravo top-scoring on 43, as Yasir Shah put the ball on a string to take four wickets.

With a deficit of over 200 runs, Pakistan decided to not enforce the follow-on for the second straight Test and in 39 overs yesterday lost a single wicket for 114 runs, building their lead to a massive 342.

Azhar Ali is 50 not out, and Bishoo has been going at nearly four runs per over, which wouldn’t be filling the tourists with any great hope.

Day 4 Prediction
Pakistan should find it almost impossible to lose from this point of the match. They have built up a massive lead, have nine wickets left in their second innings and the West Indian batting has looked feeble at best.

The only real question left for this one-sided match is whether the tourists can somehow bat long enough to salvage a draw.

With two days to play though, Pakistan would need to bat through until at least the tea interval to give the West Indies a glimmer of hope – even then it would be a figure north of 120 overs they would need to face out.

What is more likely to happen is that Pakistan will look to bat aggressively this morning, put on plenty of quick runs and get their lead up near 500 just after lunch before pulling the pin and giving themselves closer to 150 overs.

Realistically, there is no way the West Indies will bat for that long or score that many runs and they could well fold like a house of cards to hand Pakistan the victory with a day to spare – in fact, I would suspect that is exactly what will happen.
