The Boston Celtics will be out to back up their season-opening win when they hit the road to take on the Chicago Bulls today. Join The Roar from 11am (AEDT) for all the live scores coming out of Chicago.
The Celtics kicked off their 2016/17 campaign yesterday with a tight five-point win over the Brooklyn Nets.
Despite dominating most of the contest and taking a comfortable lead into the final quarter, the Celtics slipped up late and allowed the Nets to storm home to within touching distance.
They’re shaping up to be a hot contender in the Eastern Conference this season, especially after the addition of Hawks veteran Al Horford.
Alongside Jaylen Brown and Gerald Green, Horford was a big acquisition for the Celtics in the off-season and one to watch for the Bulls.
Speaking of, Chicago were busy themselves leading up to their first game of the season.
Wearing Bulls colours for the first time, Rajon Rondo will come up against the side he played nine seasons with.
He will be joined by huge offseason signing and Miami Heat stalwart Dwayne Wade, who was one of the biggest pickups in the league.
It’s not all positive coming into the first game, though. Chicago has lost their backbone in Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol.
Regardless of their line-up, the Bulls have a big chance to get their season kick-started straight out of the gate with a game at home.
It may take them a few games to kick into gear, though, especially as the franchise shifts through a transitioning period and a new-look roster.
The Celtics will be eyeing off the top of the Eastern Conference this season after a disappointing early exit from the playoffs in 2015-16.
Prediction
Boston only played yesterday and now have to travel across to Chicago, where a fresh Bulls outfit and hostile crowd will await them.
The Bulls haven’t played a lot of basketball lately and have been experimenting with a lot of new combinations across the court as they look to settle into the new team, so they may be a bit rusty come game time.
The Celtics have a tough task to face on the road, but they have all the tools to go a long way this season and it has to start early.
Boston by 3.
