The Taipans broke the Kings’ five-game winning streak on Saturday night with a low-scoring 64-57 victory, with Kevin Lisch leading all scorers with only 15 points on 38 per cent shooting.

It was a well-rounded effort from the Taipans who had three players score in double-figures, Mark Worthington leading the team with 12 points and 9 rebounds.

The Taipans victory over the Kings was particularly impressive as the Queensland side had previously lost to the Kings 92-78, after Sydney caught fire in the third quarter to put the game beyond reach.

Kevin Lisch suffered a concussion in that meeting after an awkward collision with Mark Worthington and missed the next game against the Brisbane Bullets after his calf pulled up sore after midweek training.

The former MVP will need to be back to his best if Sydney are to defeat Cairns as the Kings were held to just 14 points in the paint.

On the other side of the coin, the Taipans scored 34 points inside the key, dominating the Sydney big men throughout the game.

Another area that the Kings will need to address is their bench scoring, as the Taipans outscored them 25-17.

While it isn’t necessarily the largest of margins, it can make all the difference in a tight game.

Sydney will be looking for NBA veteran guard Steve Blake to find his scoring touch, after his performance on Saturday night left much to be desired.

The 36-year-old only attempted two shots from the field, missing both, and finished the game with one assist and one personal foul.

If the Kings are going to have any chance at redeeming themselves tonight, they will need to significantly improve their ball movement as no player finished with more than two assists on Saturday night.

While it will be another tight game, both the Kings and the Taipans will be high-scoring game.

In this kind of situation, where the Kings can run and, more importantly, open up the floor for their three-point shooters, it’s hard to imagine the Kings putting up another inefficient performance.

Can the Taipans go back-to-back against the Kings? Or will Sydney get back to their winning ways?
