The Socceroos have taken another stumble along the road to qualification for the 2018 World Cup after being held to a 2-2 draw against Thailand in Bangkok.

It was a fast start for the visitors, with captain Mile Jedinak putting Australia in front with a penalty in just the 9th minute.

That would represent the high moment for the Socceroos, who would fall victim to some classy play from the hosts just 10 minutes later.

Thailand’s momentum would continue in the second half with Teerasil Dengda securing a brace when he was sent to the spot in the 57th minute.

With a jubilant crowd behind them, Thailand looked set to secure the first win of their World Cup campaign. However, the third penalty of the game would send Jedinak to the spot for a second time, ensuring Australia escaped with a single point.
