The ten-goal shortlist for FIFA’s Puskas Award, which recognises the best goals of the year, has been finalised.

Reigning Ballon D’or winner Lionel Messi has made the cut once again. This time for a cracking freekick scored whilst representing his native Argentina against USA.

His Barcelona teammate Neymar has also, somewhat unsurprisingly, made the list. The Brazilian found the net following a superb flick, spin and finish against Villareal.

Fellow La Liga player Saul Niguez was recognised for his crafty solo run against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The Atletico midfielder beat four Bayern defenders before slotting past a lunging Manuel Neuer.

There was a screamer all the way from Finland as Simon Skrabb’s scorpion kick aerobatics saw him receive a nomination.

More freekick brilliance was on show in Mohd Faiz Subri’s effort as his swirling strike bamboozled the goalkeeper who had simply no clue the ball had even found the back of his net!

Representing the best of womens football was Venezuela’s Daniuska Rodriguez whose penalty area skills saw her score an absolute screamer.

The winner of the award will be announced on January 9 at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich.
