Tottenham have underperformed in the Champions League so far, losing two home matches to Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen which really endangers their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages.

Spurs now face an arduous task as they take on a Monaco outfit that has impressed significantly domestically and in Europe.

Monaco currently sits atop of Ligue 1 and also leads their Champions League group. The return to form of striker Radamel Falcao is a key reason behind Monaco’s success this season.

As a unit, Monaco are an experienced outfit that is on the verge of progressing to the Champions League knockout stages for the sixth time in seven seasons. A draw against Tottenham will suffice to ensure qualification for the hosts.

Tottenham meanwhile are coming off a dramatic 3-2 win over West Ham last week in the Premier League, but still have concerns over the fitness of several key players.

Stars such as Harry Kane, Mousa Dembele and Dele Alli are all in doubt for tonight’s crucial matchup against Monaco. The absence of Erik Lamela, Ben Davies and Toby Alderweireld will also test Tottenham’s depth significantly.

Indeed Spurs may be up against it tonight without the preceding players. Monaco have a formidable home record in the Champions League, losing only 2 of their past 19 matches as hosts.

Furthermore, Monaco have managed to keep five clean sheets in their last seven Champions League matches at home. On form and history alone, Monaco will be favoured to at least snatch a draw against their English opponents.

Prediction
Monaco are in terrific form and deserve favouritism tonight. Tottenham however remain unbeaten in the Premier League and they do possess the class required to secure a positive result. If Kane and Alli fire, Spurs can cause the upset.
