Another exciting weekend of Premier League action has finished and gave us some very interesting talking points.

Quite a few breathtaking games so far this season have shown us that the Premier League is indeed the best in the world in terms of entertainment. On this note, I would like to discuss a few talking points of the season so far after the conclusion of Gameweek 14.

Chelsea

It will be unfair to start this article by discussing any club other than Chelsea and its manager Antonio Conte. The Blues are improving themselves with each passing game which is clearly dangerous for the other title contenders.

This weekend’s game at the Etihad Stadium had unlimited talking points and controversies, but the fact is that Chelsea turned it around in style and earned 3 points.

It is the perfect example of how a good manager can transform the club without just depending on the transfer market. It is funny that last season after 14 games Chelsea were 14th in the table with 15 points and now they are first with 34 points.

The major talking point this season has been Conte’s 3-4-3 which is going to stay the most vital one if Chelsea do win the league in May.

Gonzalo Higuain, Robert Lewandowski, Antoinne Griezmann, Alex Lacazette or Olivier Giroud?
This was the point of discussion regarding Arsenal’s target man during the transfer window.

Surprisingly it was Alexis Sanchez who was given this responsibility and no one can say this move has not worked. The Chilean is enjoying his football and his fans – including his dogs Atom and Humber – enjoying watching him play.

The league’s joint top scorer has scored 11 goals and provided four assists. Alexis Sanchez has scored five goals in his last two Premier League games.

Right now Alexis is the heartbeat of Arsenal and if he keeps firing then Arsenal may end their wait for their first Premier League trophy in 12 years.

Premier League 2016-17 is a magical season
Diego Costa is the joint top scorer in the league with 11 goals but that is not the magic I am talking about. In all 14 games have passed and there has been zero suspensions for the Spaniard. This is indeed magical whereas Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero is collecting suspensions for fun.

His latest red card means the Argentine will have at least missed seven games in the league by the time week 19 begins. Diego Costa has been on the verge of getting a suspension after collecting his fourth booking of the season in gameweek six against Arsenal but surprisingly hasn’t received a yellow card since.

Everyone is enjoying this free scoring, hardworking Diego Costa who has indeed worked on his ‘dirty’ side of the game and I do feel it is also down to the new manager Antonio Conte who cannot do anything wrong at the moment.

Dilly Ding Dilly Dong Champions gone?
Yes, Leicester City right now look to be in a relegation battle as the Foxes are just two points away from a relegation spot. Claudio Ranieri’s magic is not at all working in the Premier League this season even though they are doing well in the Champions League.

Their top players Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, Wes Morgan and others are all massively underperforming while new signings have also not been very impressive.

The relegation battle is just unbelievable right now. Big improvements are needed if they have to avoid the battle for the drop.

Good squads don’t guarantee success in the Premier League, which is one thing that has come under notice this season. The struggles of Manchester United, Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Leicester City tell us so.

London clubs Palace, West Ham and Champions Leicester have quite a few very good players in their squad and on paper no one could have seen them struggling this much.

All three are in a relegation battle right now whereas Manchester United after spending massive amount of money are nine points away from a top four place.

Jose Mourinho
Mr Jose Mourinho works very hard in his press conferences and therefore he is always a talking point.

Sadly for him it’s all bad right now. Another draw against Everton has put Manchester United 13 points behind leaders Chelsea. At this point the Red Devils are closer to relegation than the league leaders. From badly treating few players, to disappointing results, to walking out of the press conferences and disrespecting media, Mourinho is a big talking point.

The surprise is that he feels media does not respect him.

I wonder why?
