After over a week off the park, England will be looking to keep alive the option of a drawn series against the all-conquering India when the teams head to Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Join The Roar for live scores from 3pm (AEDT).

With the first match of this series drawn, India have since taken over and proven themselves to be the dominant team, with Virat Kohli leading them to a 2-0 lead.

Even though there are still plenty of questions to be answered over the batting of India with Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara the only ones consistently scoring runs.

Others have made starts more often than they haven’t though and with both Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja consistently taking wickets, England haven’t been able to mount much of a fight.

Joe Root has been England’s best on tour, racking up a century and two other half centuries, while Ben Stokes has added plenty with bat and ball, but it hasn’t been able to stop England suffering two pretty heavy defeats.

In Visakhapatnam for the second Test, they went down by 246 runs desperately trying to hold on for a draw after simply not being able to match India’s first inning score before suffering a big eight-wicket loss in Mohali.

It was the third match in the series that showed England simply aren’t good enough to challenge India at home as they batted first and were knocked over for just 283, never being able to recover.

Prediction
India have proven over the last couple of matches that no matter what pitch is served up, they are the stronger team when playing at home.

The pitches have been far from raging turners, and even though the first match was drawn India have been dominant ever since taking a 2-0 lead in the series, meaning at worst they will draw.

Once again there will be a lot coming down to the toss, but it’s all about the team batting second’s first innings and as England have shown, they don’t have the same capabilities to grind out for a long period and hold on for the draw as India did in the first match.

India should pick up another win and at worst a draw. England won’t win a Test on this tour.
