The runners-up of 2016, the Sydney Swans, head into this Friday night match on 0-2, as do their opponents, Collingwood.

The Swans have started the year with injuries to important players, but should get the win at home.

Still, it wouldn’t surprise the away side caused an upset.

Prediction: Sydney by 11 points

North Melbourne versus GWS Giants
The Roos battled hard last week, only to be beaten in the last quarter by Geelong. They will be one defender down, with Scott Thompson suspended for the match, and if the Giants play like they did against the Suns, it should be an easy victory for Greater Western Sydney in Tasmania.

Prediction: GWS Giants by 45 points

Richmond versus West Coast
Each team started the season in magnificent form, and this will be a test for both.

West Coast are the first quality opponent Richmond come up against, and will show if the Tigers are back to 2013-15 form, but is also a test to see if the Eagles can break their losing streak at the MCG.

Prediction: Richmond by 2 points

Geelong versus Melbourne
Geelong only just beat the Roos last week, after a last-quarter comeback.

Melbourne will be without stars Jesse Hogan and Jordan Lewis for the next two and three weeks respectively – cam the young Dees handle without their stars?

Prediction: Geelong by 10 points

Port Adelaide versus Adelaide
Both of the crosstown rivals have had an unbeaten start to the season, and with great players and exciting forwards to feature, this Showdown is set to be a game to remember.

Prediction: Adelaide by 15 points

Fremantle versus Western Bulldogs
The reigning premiers have started the season with no signs of a premiership hangover, with their returning players and recruits like Travis Cloke, Bob Murphy, and Stewart Crameri improving the team.

The Dockers have performed poorly, and this game looks set to be a comfortable Dogs win.

Prediction: Western Bulldogs by 66 points

St Kilda versus Brisbane
The Saints have had two consecutive defeats to start the season, but battled gallantly against the Eagles, only falling in the last quarter.

If the St Kilda play the way they did against the Eagles on Sunday, then they should beat the Lions.

Prediction: St Kilda by 30 points

Carlton versus Essendon
Carlton gave the Demons a fright last week, but still managed to lose thanks to a brilliant last-quarter by Melbourne.

Essendon have started the season fantastically, and the third chapter of the comeback story should be another success.

Prediction: Essendon by 16 points

Gold Coast versus Hawthorn
Hawthorn haven’t started the season, falling to the Bombers and the Crows. Adelaide beat them on their home deck for the first time in six years, and it is the first time the Hawks are 0-2 since 2009.

But Gold Coast have started even worse, being thrashed by the Giants, giving them their first 100-plus point win. It should be an easy victory for Hawthorn.

Prediction: Hawthorn by 38 points
