The grand final of the National Premier Leagues (NPL) is on this Saturday night.

For everyone who talks about a national second division, this is your chance to see what it could be like. Both the finalists are spoken of as potential clubs for a second division.

For A-League fans, it’s a chance to check out a potential A-League expansion club that wants to be the second A-League team in Brisbane.

For people like myself who have been following the NPL, it’s the big game of the 2017 season.

On Saturday 30 September at 6pm (AEST), at Perry Park in Brisbane, Heidelberg United FC will face the Brisbane Strikers to decide the top second division team for 2017.

Heidelberg United FC qualified by being Victorian NPL premiers. They then had victories over Bayswater City (Football West) and APIA Leichhardt Tigers (Football NSW).

Brisbane Strikers are the Queensland NPL premiers. They progressed to the finals with victories over South Hobart FC (Football Federation Tasmania) and Edgeworth Eagles FC (Northern NSW Football).

It has been a successful year for both clubs in the NPL. Heidelberg United FC also progressed to the quarter-finals of the FFA Cup, where they were eliminated by Adelaide United.

It’s good to see the streaming options available through both PS4 and the websites, so that everyone around Australia can watch the best of our second tier teams battle it out.

The NPL 2017 grand final will be streamed live via www.nationalpremierleagues.com.au, as well as on PS4 consoles and the official A-League Facebook page. Let’s hope it’s a great game!
