Less said the better about the five bets last Saturday with a few near misses, most notably the very erratic Paret. Looking to bounce back in a big way and sharpen right up, so here are the five bets for the long weekend.

Bet One- Each-Way- Randwick Race Six Number 10 In Her Time
Filthy I missed the $15 all in but glad I got the $9 because I think she is a great play in the Premiere. All the reports are that she is working the house down and has come right on since the Autumn/Winter. Hard to argue with that given her two trials leading in have been outstanding. She gets the map favours, looks wound up…keen on her.

Bet Two- Win- Morphettville Race Eight Number 13 I’m A Princess
Looks the best bet on the card at Morphettville. Tony McEvoy trained mare who should take some beating here. She was confidently backed when resuming on Balaklaca Cup Day over 1400m off one soft 1400m trial and the money landed. She never looked like getting beat and won with a bit of authority. Keen to see what she does here up to the mile.

Bet Three- Win- Sunny Coast Race One Number 4 Was It Worth It
Majority of these have bottomed out with no upside left, where I think this bloke has it all in front of him. Steve O’Dea trained three year old who is putting together a nice little record.

Was confidently backed when racing over the mile at Doomben a couple of Wednesdays back and it was full credit to him for the win. He burnt the candle at both ends and held them comfortably. I think he will be better with cover. If he gets it here, he’ll take some beating.

Bet Four- Win- Mornington Race Five Number 9 Toy Boy
If you can get black figures, I think you’re doing very well because it looks a gift. Greg Eurell trained galloper who resumed over 1000m at Sandown and probably cost himself a win nearly by wanting to lay in badly in the straight when appearing to be full of running. Up to 1200m here, down in the weights, run under the belt…yes.

Bet Five- Each-Way- Caulfield Race Nine Number 1 Hellbent
I’m stunned that nearly double figures is on offer for this horse, who has Group l potential when he puts it all together. Quality sprinter for the Darren Weir who is a borderline Group l horse in the right race, but he needs to perform here to warrant that tag.

McEwen run fresh behind Russian Revolution was just fair. Wouldn’t say disappointing but expected a bit more. Back to Caulfield, this will tell us where he is at.
