The high-flying Queensland Country take on the Melbourne Rising in the fifth round of the NRC. The Roar has got you covered for the game, with a match preview and live score updates from 3pm (AEST).

Queensland Country have had moments of brilliance throughout the opening rounds, but have failed to record consecutive wins. Meanwhile, the Rising finally recorded their first victory of the season and are looking to build momentum.

Fortunately, this season is shaping up to be one of the most evenly contested in recent memories, which means that, despite recent losses, both sides can make a strong push for the finals in the back half of their campaigns.

Last week, Queensland played possibly their best game yet, with a convincing 50-24 victory over the Sydney Rays.

Duncan Paia’aua’s three-try haul against the Rays sees the Country captain as the leading try-scorer in the competition. Watch for his strong running, especially his ability to hit holes in the opposition’s defensive line.

Melbourne also had a solid outing, winning 41-31 over the Greater Sydney Rams.

Semisi Tupou continues to impress, with another strong game on the wing in which he scored two tries and made a total of 80 metres with the ball in hand. If the Rising continue to grow in confidence, expect a lot of highlight plays from this man.

Prediction:
After last weekend, it is clear that a team’s form really doesn’t account for much on game day.

Country have played some great rugby already this season, and under head coach Brad Thorn, they will undoubtedly continue to improve.

Melbourne, however, were impressive last week and will build on their first victory of the season with an upset win away from home.

Rising to win 40-30.
