Syria will be looking to continue their fairytale run in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers when they take on the Socceroos for a spot in the inter-confederation playoffs.

The first leg of the tie will be played in Malaysia at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Malacca, Malaysia as Syria are unable to play their home games in their own nation due to war. Kick-off is scheduled for 11:30pm (AEDT).

Following the match, the two teams will fly to Sydney, with the second leg set for next Tuesday at 8pm (AEDT), with ANZ Stadium playing host.

The winner will be determined on aggregate score, with away goals to decide if the teams are split on goals after the two matches. If they still can’t be split, the second match will go to extra time and a penalty shootout, as Australia were forced to in 2006 against Uruguay.
