The resurgent Greater Sydney Rams host the Canberra Vikings at TG Milner field, with kickoff at 3pm (AEDT). Join The Roar for live scores plus a match preview.

The Rams are out of finals contention, however they will be out to finish their 2017 campaign on a positive note, looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since Rounds 1 and 2.

After conceding three first-half tries to Brisbane City last week, the Rams looked set for another large loss. But the second half seemed to be a different game, as they played some exciting, expansive rugby despite the wet conditions.

Captain Jed Holloway was outstanding, scoring two tries in the second stanza. The first saw him finish off an outstanding run from winger Ben Cotton, the second was off a dominant Rams’ scrum.

The Vikings, on the other hand, are assured a playoff place, with a win today securing a home semi-final.

They had a bye last week and will return to the field eager to build momentum. In their last outing, against the Rays, Canberra scored an incredible 11 tries – although it’s worth noting they will be missing a number of players this week due to Barbarians duties.

James Dargaville has shown his worth for the Vikings, as the ultimate utility back who can expertly find the try line – scoring five tries in a variety of positions. He has combined well with budding star Tom Banks at fullback, and Brumbies flyhalf Wharenui Hawera, which will be great for the Brumbies in 2018.

Prediction
Despite their bye round, the Vikings’ forwards have shaken any inconsistencies to become the best pack in the competition.
