The 2017 Melbourne Cup results are in, and we now know which horse finished second.

So that means you can start figuring out how you ended up going in your trifectas, quinellas and office sweeps.

Marmelo came into the race as the longest-odds favourite in recent memory, so we knew we were going to be in for an unpredictable race.

And that’s exactly what we got.

Rekindling took out the 2017 gong in spectacular fashion.

But Rekindling wasn’t the only winner of the day.

Second place went to Johannes Vermeer, making owner Lloyd Williams very happy with his quinella.

Coming in third was Max Dynamite and Big Duke in fourth.
