North Melbourne Kangaroos

North Melbourne KangaroosThe North Melbourne Kangaroos were one of three clubs admitted to the AFL in 1925. The Kangaroos have won four AFL flags, with success coming in 1975 and 1977, then again in 1996 and 1999. A name change to simply ‘The Kangaroos’ in 1999 fuelled speculation that the club was relocating to the Gold Coast or western Sydney, before ‘North Melbourne’ was re-added in 2007.

North Melbourne’s 2016 season was a bizarre campaign. The Kangaroos won their first nine games to sit atop the AFL ladder, but only won three of their remaining 13 matches to scrape into the finals in eighth. North were no match for Adelaide in their elimination final, forcing them to bid a premature farewell to the retiring AFL all-time games record holder Brent Harvey.
