Western Bulldogs
Having joined the VFL/AFL premiership in 1925 as the Footscray club, the Western Bulldogs have just the one Premiership next to their name which was achieved in 1954 against Melbourne. Although the Bulldogs have struggled somewhat for financial stability in its history, a boost in sponsorship and membership figures have seen the Bulldogs perform very well in the AFL recently, reaching the 2006 semi-finals and the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Preliminary finals, guided by Rodney Eade, who resigned from the club late in the 2011 season.

Fremantle have Ross Lyon. Melbourne have Mark Neeld. The Western Bulldogs have Brendan McCartney. Adelaide have Brenton Sanderson. For those keeping score at home, that’s four coaching appointments in the space of four days. It’s been an unbelievable few days. How bizarre it is that every single one of the coaches that led teams to [...]

On Monday one of the worst kept secrets in the AFL was confirmed. Western Bulldogs young gun Callan Ward told his club he will be leaving and joining the AFL’s newest team Greater Western Sydney for a reported five-year contract worth $800,000 a season. For months there has been much speculation on Ward’s future at [...]

Each AFL club has a certain word or phrase that you can associate with them. With the season now entering finals time, I have attempted to link them all. Adelaide: Powerful with a whole state behind them. Struggling at present, but they will return. Brisbane: They are a rabble with a CEO who is scared [...]
