Armchair Writer Award rules

1. This competition is not open to those that are employed as full-time, part-time, casual or freelance journalists during the period of June 9, 2008 to October 15, 2008;
2. By submitting the entry, the contestant is warranting that the contestant has submitted a written article that is original, non-professional, neither previously published in any media nor having won any other award;
3. The closing date for the competition is September 19, 2008, and the winner will be announced on October 15, 2008;
4. If you win the competition, we will notify you by email after October 15, 2008. The winner will also be published on www.theroar.com.au on October 15, 2008. The judges’ decision will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into. In the event that The Roar cannot for any reason contact the winner by November 15, 2008, The Roar reserves the right to decide on another winner;
5. The winner will receive $50 per column to write a regular column (frequency to be discussed with the winner) published on the Roar for the duration of the week of November 3, 2008 until week of June 1, 2009. The Roar and the winner will agree to a process for submissions of the articles. The column can be canceled at any point by mutual agreement;
6. The award is not exchangeable for any other prize;
7. Any personal information (entrant’s name, age, address, telephone number and/or email address) will be used solely in connection with this competition and will not be disclosed to any third party, except for the purpose of fulfilling the prize where applicable. Any personal information held by the Promoter in respect of the competition will be held on record for a short period for the purpose of ensuring fulfillment of the competition;
8. The winners of any prize agree to participate in such promotional activities and feature in such promotional material as The Roar may require. By submitting the entry, the Contestant is granting to The Roar the right to use their photograph for commercial purposes for an unlimited time;
9. This competition is being run by Conversant Media Pty Ltd which can be reached at PO Box 7157, Bondi Beach, NSW 2026, Australia;
10. These competition Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and constructed in accordance with the laws of Australia and the courts of Australia shall have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any disputes arising therefrom;
11. The Roar reserves the right to amend these rules at any time. If we do, we will put the amended rules up at www.theroar.com.au.
12. Any Contestant who does not agree with the above terms and conditions should not enter this contest.
13. If you are under 18 years of age and enter this competition, we will assume that your Parent or Guardian have read these rules and agree to them.
You will be deemed to agree to these terms and conditions by nominating your article for the contest.
